BAS APPOINTS NEW CEO

Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) Chairman announced the appointment of Mr. George Saounatsos as the new CEO. George brings a unique depth of experience and expertise to the company, having held senior positions for several major aviation companies and airports in Europe & the Middle East.
 
Mr. George Saounatsos is a seasoned professional having served in different managerial, operational and engineering capacities with aviation industry leaders including AIRBUS and the A380 Program, Vancouver Airport Services, Airports des Paris Ing. (ADPi), Hermes Airports, Athens International Airport, the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, etc.. He is also on the roster of experts of ICAO's Technical Cooperation Program on airport planning, development and operations. His appointment follows current CEO Phil Bowell's decision to step down as Chief Executive Officer.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, BAS Chairman Mr. Jalal said, “We appreciate Phil’s efforts and his service to BAS since his appointment 4 years ago. The Board believes that the job of BAS CEO now requires additional attributes to successfully execute the company’s strategy. Mr. George Saounatsos has the necessary operational and management skills & experience to deliver improved service performance and financial results.
