February 01, 2012
BAS Catering Division has been appointed to provide catering at the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH). The five year deal will provide all patient meals and manage a commercial outlet serving meals & snacks to hospital staff & visitors.
"The Government is keen to turn the hospital into a pioneering health and medical hub in Bahrain and the region" commented Brigadier Doctor Sheikh Salman Bin Atyatallah Al Khalifa, KHUH CEO . “Bahrain Government has already equipped the hospital with the latest in advanced medical equipment in the field of treatment and general health services”
In line with the KHUH’s vision; BAS’s impeccable hygiene standards and stringent quality control processes, gained BAS Catering recognition and ultimately won them the business.
The contract sees BAS Catering preparing and serving daily, all three main meals plus snacks for 310 patient beds and nearly 2000 staff. Patient wellness is a priority and nutritional, well prepared food aids recovery and ensures staff are well feed and able to cope with the long hours and often strenuous workloads.
BAS will also prepare special meals for tube-fed patients under the direct supervision of KHUH nutritionists in accordance with world-class health and medical care standards. Hi-tech menu screens are set in all hospital rooms for patients to choose their desired meals, taking the patients health condition into account.
The hospital has been fitted with hi-tech equipment – the first of its kind in the Middle East- to preserve meals at required temperatures for both cold & hot dishes simultaneously and avert food contamination. The high tech equipment would also save costs and optimize food distribution at the right temperature to all patients.
