BAS receives Ministry of Labour Award for Best Salary improvements in 2012

Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), the award winning ground handling company at Bahrain International Airport, has been recognized yet again for its outstanding Human Resources Development and Reward initiatives, at the recent Ministry of Labour Annual Awards Function to celebrate & recognize outstanding companies and employees from the private sector. The event was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad at the Crown Plaza Hotel.
BAS was one of only two companies in Bahrain to receive “The Shield of Excellence” in recognition of outstanding efforts made in National employee’s wages improvements for the year 2012. The award comes in appreciation of BAS commitments to provide safe, equitable and rewarding work environment, which includes recruiting, training and developing local talents.
In his opening address, HE Mr. Jameel Humaidan, Minister of Labour stated “ Bahrain workers are the true wealth of this country and we have to work further to achieve more as we look into a brighter future full of promising success."
Commenting on this occasion, BAS CEO George Saounatsos stated "Our human capital is the most important asset; thus investing back in our people, part of the achieved margins through improved incentives and rewards is at the core of BAS corporate philosophy. We restructured twice within 2012 the pay & grading scale simplifying it and ensuring that the basic remuneration of lower-waged staff is increased while allowances are rationalized, achieving a fair and substantiated policy for all staff. This effort will continue in 2013 as well "
More recently, BAS was also recognized by the Ministry of Labour for being on of the top five employers on the Island to reach Bahrainization levels above 85% within many areas across its operations reaching 100% mark. This level of Bahrainization has been achieved by BAS with the strategic implementation of world class training and development programs.
